S.Q.S GROUP NEWS

The National Dangerous Drugs Control Board conducted a special Drug Prevention campaign during the Vesak season from 24th – 27th of May 2013 at Baudaloka Mawatha and Gangarama Vesak Zone. Members of the S.Q.S group were also engaged in this charity work by distributing Leaflets and helping out the Awareness programme.

Our team members including Kulani Jayathilaka & Dushna Perera of Musaeus College, Uvindu Ranathunge of Presidenst’s College/ Rajagiriya, Hareen Mahagedara of Royal College and Sandeep Sathsara of Nalanda College were performing great duties in this campaign.

This campaign gave us a great experience in Drug Prevention Programmes. There were many people who use drugs and alcohol. Though it was the Vesak poya day, the day Lord Buddha was born, and it is a very special day to all the Buddhist people in our country, though we should celebrate it in a proper way as Lord Buddha said, some young and adults were drunked. It was really unpleasant in a special occasion like this.

Thank you for giving us a chance to show them the correct path. We all are really happy for giving us chance to help and join hands with you in this campaign.

Our special thanks go to Mrs.Leisha De Silva Chandrasena the Chairperson of National Dangerous Drugs Control Board; whose idea was to create the SQS group, to Mrs.Kumudini Jayathilaka who gave us a chance to join the campaign, Mrs. IndraniCAgalawatte, Mr.Asanka Dinesh, Mr.Lalith Ruwanwella, Mr. Wickramathilaka, Mr.Sanjeewa Wijerathne, Mr.P.G.PRupasena, Mrs.Thushara Nilmini and Mr.Kasun for the help and encouragement given us to make the day a success.

Further, We would like to be trained as more qualified S.Q.S members under your staff in order to join with the future Drug Prevention Campaigns as well.

Kulani Jayathilaka,

(SQS group Member)
